I Can’t Talk To My Parent

What if talking to parents won’t work for me?

Even if you’re afraid that a parent won't be willing or able to help you through this, it's still worth a shot. Teens are often surprised at how supportive their parents can be when they ask for help, even if they have a lot going on.

Other Options

Occasionally, parents have too many struggles of their own or other issues going on. In some situations, a parent may be abusive, or you may feel that going to them would make things worse… we realize that you know your situation better than anyone else.

If you reach out to talk and it turns out you don’t feel that your parent can't provide the help you need, or if you know it would be unwise to approach them at this time, it is important to try to find another adult such as a teacher, counselor, coach, minister or relative. Don't give up until you find someone trustworthy who can help you.

You don’t need to do this alone! It's that important!
